Burnley taken over by American investors

American company ALK Capital has completed its takeover of Burnley, acquiring a controlling 84 per cent stake in the Premier League club.The investors announced the completion of the deal, approved and ratified by the Premier League, in a statement today.

Lacklustre Liverpool held to goalless draw by Newcastle

Liverpool reopened their three-point lead at the Premier League summit but they were held to a 0-0 draw by a valiant Newcastle at St James’ Park. Mohamed Salah missed two great opportunities but the hosts were inspired by goalkeeper Karl Darlow and his spirited Newcastle defenders.

El Ghazi strikes as Villa fight back to draw with Chelsea

Chelsea ended the year with just one win in five as Anwar El Ghazi’s controversial equaliser earned Aston Villa a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. Olivier Giroud gave the Blues a first half lead but El Ghazi’s strike earned Villa a valuable point.
