Belgium were under pressure after an opening loss to Slovakia but responded emphatically after Youri Tielemans scored after 73 seconds. Battling Scotland got their Euro 2024 campaign back on track with a tension-filled 1-1 draw against Switzerland in Cologne. Scott McTominay’s shot in the 13th minute was deflected in by Swiss defender Fabian Schar. However, joy was replaced by despair in the 26th minute when Xherdan Shaqiri took advantage of an Anthony Ralston error to level with a world-class finish ensuring the spoils were shared.

Switzerland battled their way to victory over Hungary as they made a winning start to their Euro 2024 campaign at Cologne Stadium. Kwadwo Duah justified his surprise inclusion by boss Murat Yakin as he slotted home his first international goal, before Michel Aebischer doubled Switzerland’s lead on the stroke of half-time.
