Arsenal frustrated by Liverpool but go six points clear

Arsenal missed a chance to move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League as they were held to a frustrating goalless draw by Liverpool. The Gunners dominated the opening 45 minutes, but it was Liverpool who had the best chance when Conor Bradley seized on a mix-up between David Raya and William Saliba and sent a chipped effort against the crossbar. Arsenal fired a number of crosses into the box but there was nobody on hand to apply a finishing touch.

Newcastle legend Kevin Keegan diagnosed with cancer

Former England and Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan has been diagnosed with cancer. The 74-year-old was recently admitted to hospital after presenting abdominal symptoms and tests have shown he has the disease for which he is undergoing treatment. Keegan was twice named European Footballer of the Year while at German club Hamburg.

Chelsea appoint Liam Rosenior as new head coach

Chelsea have confirmed the appointment of Liam Rosenior as their new head coach on a six-and-a-half-year deal. Rosenior arrives from Strasbourg on a contract that runs until 2032. Callum McFarlane, who presided over a 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Sunday, will oversee Wednesday’s Premier League game at Fulham, though Rosenior will watch on from the stands.

Ruben Amorim sacked by Manchester United

Ruben Amorim has been sacked as Manchester United head coach. United said in a statement issued on Monday morning that the Portuguese, who took charge in November 2024, had left the role, with the club’s leadership having “reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change”. United are currently sixth in the top flight after a 1-1 draw at Leeds on Sunday. Darren Fletcher is to take charge on an interim basis.

Fernández strikes late as Chelsea dent City’s title hopes

Enzo Fernandez scored a stoppage-time equaliser as Chelsea ended a tumultuous week by claiming a worthy Premier League point at title-chasing Manchester City. The win looked to be heading to City following Tijjani Reijnders’ first-half strike but Argentine Fernandez poked in at the third attempt to rescue a draw. Consecutive draws mean City have now fallen six points behind league leaders Arsenal.
