Liverpool sign Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton

Liverpool have completed a £35m deal to sign midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton on a five-year contract. The fee could rise to £55m for the Argentina playmaker, who helped Brighton finish sixth in the Premier League this season to qualify for Europe for the first time. The 24-year-old scored 20 goals in 112 appearances for the Seagulls and helped Argentina win the 2022 World Cup.

Chelsea appoint Mauricio Pochettino as new manager

Chelsea have appointed former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach on a two-year deal, with the option of a further year, from July 1. The 51-year-old Argentine, who returns to the Premier League following previous spells in charge of Tottenham and Southampton, permanently succeeds Graham Potter, who was dismissed at the start of April after less than seven months in charge.

City crowned champions as Arsenal lose to Forest

Nottingham Forest secured their Premier League survival at a buoyant City Ground with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Arsenal which confirmed Manchester City as champions. Arsenal, four points behind City ahead of kick-off, needed to win to keep the title race alive, but could not recover after Taiwo Awoniyi struck his fifth goal in three games in the 19th minute.

Sam Allardyce takes charge at Leeds as Javi Gracia departs

Sam Allardyce has been appointed Leeds boss until the end of the season after the club sacked head coach Javi Gracia following just two-and-a-half months in charge. Former England manager Allardyce, who has been out of work since leaving West Brom in May 2021, makes a shock return to football to try and save Leeds from Premier League relegation.
