Calvert-Lewin helps Leeds to draw with Man United
Manchester United’s winless run extended to six games as Leeds United denied Michael Carrick a much-needed Premier League victory at Elland Road. Bryan Mbeumo gave the visitors the lead before half time but Dominic Calvert-Lewin ignited the home crowd shortly after the interval, beating Mbeumo to a loose ball to fire home the equaliser.

Chelsea’s Emiliano Martinez taken to hospital for ‘precautionary tests’
Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was rushed to hospital but is “conscious” after a sickening collision with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite. The players clashed heads as the Argentine came off his line to collect an aerial cross into the Everton box, with Branthwaite attempting to attack the ball. There was immediate concern for both players as they stayed down in the box, but Branthwaite was able to return to his feet after a couple of minutes.

Mikel Arteta signs new contract to stay at Arsenal until 2030
Manager Mikel Arteta says this is “only the beginning” of Arsenal’s success after signing a new contract with the Premier League champions until 2030. The Spaniard’s deal was set to expire at the end of this season, with his time in charge of the Gunners now possibly stretching to a decade following his arrival in December 2019. Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is reportedly paid over £20m per year, as was former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola – both of whom Arteta benchmarked his worth against.

Manchester City appeal Premier League financial breaches verdict
Manchester City have confirmed they have lodged an appeal after an independent commission found the club guilty of all charges relating to breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations. In a short statement, the club said the commission’s ruling contained “clear material errors, of law, principle and fact and is unsafe”. Asserting its innocence, the club added it had filed “a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence [that] exists in support of all of its positions” on Thursday evening.
