Man City lead race to sign Bournemouth’s Semenyo

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo’s preference is to move to Manchester City in January. Semenyo’s desire to win trophies is key to his wish to join Pep Guardiola’s side. As yet nothing formal has been agreed, with the January transfer window not open for another week. Chelsea have decided against pursuing a move for Semenyo, 25, after making an initial enquiry with Manchester United also monitoring the situation.

Guardiola dismisses exit talk at Man City

Pep Guardiola said Friday that his departure from Manchester City is “not on the table” at the moment as he focuses on trying to wrest back the Premier League title. Guardiola, 54, is contracted at the Etihad until the end of the 2026/27 season but reports this week said City’s hierarchy were eyeing up potential replacements should the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach step away at the end of the current campaign.

Erling Haaland scored twice after Phil Foden opened the scoring as Manchester City returned to winning ways in the Premier League by beating floundering rivals Manchester United at Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side came into the game with some concerns having suffered back-to-back defeats before the international break, but fears of another loss were allayed with goals from two players who enjoy playing against United.

Manchester City have re-signed goalkeeper James Trafford from Burnley. Trafford has signed a five-year deal with the option of an extra year and will compete with Ederson for the No 1 shirt under Pep Guardiola. Stefan Ortega, who started 13 games in the Premier League last season, is expected to leave the club, but an exit is not close to being agreed.

Manchester City sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders for an initial fee of £46.5m on a five-year contract. The Netherlands international is Pep Guardiola’s fourth summer signing with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Rayan Cherki having also joined. Reijnders, 26, was signed in time to be eligible for this month’s Club World Cup in America
