Tadej Pogacar recovered from a tyre puncture and crash to claim a dramatic victory on Stage 2 of the Giro d’Italia on Sunday afternoon. Pogacar was the favourite heading into the race but was pipped on Saturday with Jhonatan Narvaez winning the opening stage. Ecuador’s Jhonatan Narvaez outsprinted Giro d’Italia favourite Tadej Pogacar to win the opening stage of the first Grand Tour of the year. Ineos Grenadiers rider Narvaez charged to the finish line in Turin to push Slovenian Pogacar into third, with Germany’s Max Schachmann taking second. Premier League clubs vote in principle to back spending cap

Premier League clubs have voted in favour of developing plans to introduce a spending cap. Sixteen clubs approved proposals for the Premier League to complete the final economic and legal analysis needed to create a spending-cap model. The model if voted through it would replace the current Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) from the 2025-26 season onwards.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has agreed to buy a 25% stake in Manchester United for about $1.3bn. Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group will take control of football operations. The 71-year-old will also provide $300m (£236m) for future investment into the club’s Old Trafford stadium.
