Ryan Fox claimed a maiden major title after a final-hole birdie snatched a dramatic one-shot victory over Cameron Young at The 154th Open. Fox charged into contention by equalling the lowest round in men’s major history during a third-round 62, then came through a roller-coaster Sunday to edge ahead of a congested leaderboard. The New Zealander began two strokes behind Sam Burns but reached the 72nd tied for the lead with Young, who overturned a seven-shot deficit on the final day to set the clubhouse target on nine under.

Burns – playing alongside DeChambeau – boosted his hopes of a maiden major title after mixing six birdies with a lone bogey in a third-round 65 at Royal Birkdale, lifting him to 10 under ahead of Fox and Si Woo Kim.

Wyndham Clark survived a final-round scare to win his second US Open title in four years with a one-shot wire-to-wire victory at Shinnecock Hills. The 2023 champion successfully avoided conceding the biggest 54-hole lead in the event’s history after starting the day with a six-stroke advantage. After dominating over three days the 32-year-old’s aura quickly disappeared but, while he may not have been the most popular winner, having to endure catcalls from the gallery, his play over the week deserved it.
