Verstappen extends championship lead with Sprint victory in Austria

Max Verstappen took a dominant win in the sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix after a first-lap squabble with team-mate Sergio Perez. In wet conditions, Perez took the lead from Verstappen at the first corner and then edged the world champion onto the grass after the corner. But Verstappen made a pass stick out of Turn Four and proceeded to motor away to another win.

Max Verstappen fended off a challenge from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to take pole position at the Austrian Grand Prix. Verstappen was just 0.048 seconds clear of Leclerc as Carlos Sainz made it a Ferrari two-three with Lando Norris fourth in the upgraded McLaren.

Sergio Perez drove a consummate race with help from the safety car to beat Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen and win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Perez and Verstappen fought a long, flat out battle after the Mexican leapfrogged ahead by being able to save time by making his pit stop under the safety car.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez overtook Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to win the sprint at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Mexican, who qualified second, passed the Ferrari shortly after an early safety-car period. Championship leader Max Verstappen finished third, after his car suffered damage in an early collision with George Russell’s Mercedes.

Leclerc takes pole ahead of Sprint race in Baku

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc made it two pole positions in as many days by leading the new sprint shootout at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Leclerc took pole for Saturday’s sprint race despite crashing on his final lap of the shortened qualifying session. He beat Red Bull’s Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen, with Mercedes driver George Russell in fourth.
