Gary Lineker has been forced off his Match of the Day duties by the BBC because he won’t apologise for his comments on social media. The BBC said in a statement that the presenter will “step back” from hosting the weekly football highlights programme while regular contributors Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have pulled out of the programme in a show of support with Lineker.

Arsenal fightback to earn draw in Lisbon

Arsenal secured a hard-earned draw against Sporting Lisbon in an entertaining Europa League last-16 first leg. William Saliba gave the Gunners the lead but it would only last 12 minutes as Goncalo Inacio levelled before Paulinho put Sporting in the driving seat.
