Hummels the hero as Dortmund stun PSG to book final spot

Borussia Dortmund produced a fine away performance to beat Paris St-Germain and reach their first Champions League final since 2013. Dortmund held a 1-0 advantage following the first leg of the semi-final and doubled their lead when Mats Hummels was left unmarked five yards out to head in from Julian Brandt’s left-wing corner. PSG had chances to get back into the tie but were unable to breakthrough the Dortmund defence.

Barcelona collapse at Girona to hand Real Madrid La Liga title

Real Madrid were crowned champions of La Liga for the 36th time after FC Barcelona suffered a 4-2 defeat by Girona. The Catalans took an early lead through Andres Christensen but were soon pegged back by Artem Dovbyk. Barca regained the lead but Cristian Portu’s brace from the bench turned the tie on its head ultimately ending the title race.

It was honours even at the Stade Velodrome as Marseille – via a fantastic equaliser from Chancel Mbemba – recovered from going a goal down to secure a draw from their UEFA Europa League first leg tie with Liverpool’s conquerors Atalanta. Gianluca Scamacca who had given the visitors the lead with a fine drilled finish.

Andrich stunner puts Leverkusen in the ascendancy against Roma

Bayer Leverkusen claimed a 2-0 first-leg victory at Roma to take command of their Europa League semi-final. A first half strike from Florian Wirtz and a stunning effort from Robert Andrich gave the Bundesliga champions only their second win in Italy. Roma had just two shots on target with striker Romelu Lukaku cutting an isolated figure.

Füllkrug gives Dortmund slender advantage over PSG

Niclas Füllkrug scored a brilliant first half winner as Borussia Dortmund beat Paris Saint Germain 1-0 in a frenetic first leg of their Champions League semi-final. The German international used his right foot to expertly bring down a long ball before hammering home with his left. The Parisians had chances to level the tie but will have to turn things around next week if they are to reach the showpiece.
