Manchester City’s Champions League campaign opened in frustrating fashion as they were held to a draw by impressive Inter Milan at Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side were never at their most fluent, not helped by an injury to Kevin de Bruyne that forced him off at half-time, but their Italian opponents were well worth their draw.

Liverpool claimed an assured victory at AC Milan on their Champions League return to firmly bounce back from Saturday’s shock defeat by Nottingham Forest. The Reds were stunned on the break inside three minutes when AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic found the net with a driven strike across goal. But Arne Slot’s side responded with a dominant performance to lead by the break.

An improved performance, but ultimately another losing one as Ireland were beaten 2-0 by Greece in tonight’s UEFA Nations League encounter at the Aviva Stadium. Heimir Hallgrimsson’s reign as Ireland manager started with a defeat as England enjoyed a well-earned 2-0 victory in the UEFA Nations League encounter at Aviva Stadium. A bright start from the home side, but it was the visitors who quickly took control and they made their superiority count in the 11th minute as former Ireland international, Declan Rice, opened the scoring. Jack Grealish added a second in the 26th minute to hand interim England manager Lee Carsley an opening win.
