Paul Pogba has completed move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco as he nears a return to competitive action after a two-year absence. The World-Cup winning midfielder’s last competitive game came in September 2023 for Juventus. Injury and a doping ban have seen him sidelined since with Juventus mutually terminating his contract last November. Seven-time French champions Lyon, owned by American businessman John Textor, have been relegated to the second tier of French football due to the club’s financial problems, the French Professional League announced on Tuesday evening. Lyon, who finished sixth in Ligue 1 and reached the quarterfinals of the Europa League last season, plan to appeal the decision in the hopes of retaining their top flight status.

Paris Saint Germain forward Kylian Mbappé is reported to have rejected an approach from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal after they saw a €300m bid for the Frenchman accepted by the Parisian club. Mbappé was allegedly in line to receive a contract offer worth in excess of €700m for a one year deal.

Paris Saint-Germain fired coach Christophe Galtier after a disappointing season on Wednesday and replaced him with former Spain and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique. Enrique was introduced at a press conference hours after Galtier was dismissed. Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said his arrival will mark the start of a “new cycle, with a new style of play.”
