Sergio Perez and Red Bull agree to end contract early

Sergio Perez is to leave Red Bull two years before the end of his contract after reaching a termination agreement with the team. The move comes after a weak season for the Mexican, who failed to win a race and finished on the podium only four times as team-mate Max Verstappen won his fourth world title. Perez, 34, is expected to be replaced by 22-year-old New Zealander Liam Lawson, in a promotion from the sister Racing Bulls team.

Marcus Rashford has admitted he is ready to leave Manchester United and take on a “new challenge”. Rashford was left out of the squad for Sunday’s Manchester derby by Ruben Amorim, although the head coach insisted there were no disciplinary issues behind his decision but he appeared to hint he had hoped to see more from the England player on and off the pitch during his first few weeks in charge.

US Ryder Cup stars to be paid to play in 2025

Players on next year’s United States Ryder Cup team will be paid to compete after a package was agreed by the PGA of America. It will be the first time in the 98-year history of the matches that either side has been paid to play. The 12 players will each receive $500,000 with $300,000 donated to a charity or charities chosen by each member of the team.
