Lions dominate Australia to win opening test

The British and Irish Lions beat the Wallabies 27-19 in the opening Test at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Leading 24-5 early in the second half and looking like they might threaten to record one of the biggest victories in their history, the Lions fell away in the last half-hour. Tadej Pogacar is running away with the 2025 Tour de France. The Slovenian stormed to a 21st career stage win in the mountain time trial at Peyragudes, extending his already commanding lead over Jonas Vingegaard to 4’07”. It was a bad day for Remco Evenepoel, who faded on the climb and was caught by Vingegaard, while Pogacar edged closer to Mark Cavendish’s all-time Tour record of 35 stage wins.
