United States Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley decided not to pick himself as a player for the match against Europe next month after a change of heart. The 39-year-old kept the public guessing until Wednesday when he announced the six wildcard picks to complete his 12-strong team to play at Bethpage Black from 26-28 September. Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will race for the new Cadillac Formula 1 team next year. The decision marks a return to the F1 grid for the two drivers, neither of whom is racing this year after being dropped at the end of 2024. Mark Reuss, the president of Cadillac’s parent company General Motors, said the decision was based on the drivers’ experience of wins and podiums in F1. He described the choice of Bottas and Perez as “a really good winning combination”.

Wolves have rejected a £50m bid from Newcastle for Jorgen Strand Larsen. Wolves’ position is that he is not for sale in this window. They believe he is too important and the lack of time left in the window is not enough to find a Premier League-ready replacement. Wolves exercised their option to buy Strand Larsen on July 1 from Celta Vigo for £23m, after the 25-year-old Norway international spent last season at Molineux on loan.
