Haaland strikes late as City comeback to defeat Dortmund

Erling Haaland’s outrageous finish against his old club completed a dramatic turnaround as Manchester City defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s side had looked to be heading for Champions League defeat when Jude Bellingham headed Dortmund in front early in the second half but John Stones levelled it late on from distance before Haaland had the final say with his cushioned volley.

Williams driver Alex Albon suffered respiratory failure and was treated in intensive care following appendix surgery at the weekend. The 26-year-old had an operation on Saturday but suffered “post-operative anaesthetic complications” and was put on a ventilator.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen spoiled the anniversary party at Monza as he saw off Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to win the Italian Grand Prix. Pole sitter Leclerc was hoping to mark Ferrari’s 75th anniversary with victory on home soil but had to settle for second ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell.

Charles Leclerc takes pole ahead of Italian Grand Prix

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claimed pole position on home soil for the Prancing Horse ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz. Grid penalties will however see Mercedes’ George Russell and McLaren’s Lando Norris start second and third tomorrow.
