Alpine have confirmed the signing of Pierre Gasly for the 2023 Formula 1 season filling the seat vacated by Fernando Alonso. He joins Esteban Ocon making it an all French lineup for the French manufacturer. He leaves AlphaTauri and the Red Bull driver programme after 103 races between Red Bull and their sister team.

Manchester United avoided an embarrassing defeat to Omonia Nicosia courtesy of a second-half comeback to win 3-2 in the Europa League after being behind at the break. Nicosia lead 1-0 at the break but Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial made an impact from the bench to secure victory.

Sevilla have re-appointed Jorge Sampaoli as head coach of the club, less than 24 hours after relieving Julen Lopetegui of his duties. The 62 year old Argentine left Marseille in the summer after leading them to second in Ligue 1 and to the Europa Conference League semi-finals.
