Chelsea complete signing of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig

Chelsea have signed France striker Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig for £52m. The 25-year-old scored 16 goals in 25 games in the Bundesliga last season. Nkunku, who has won 10 caps for France, is manager Mauricio Pochettino’s first signing since he took charge in May.

Rory McIlroy’s nine-year wait for a fifth major win goes on after he was beaten by one shot by American Wyndham Clark at the US Open in Los Angeles. Clark, 29, carded a level-par 70 to claim his first major on 10 under and the $3.6m (£2.8m) winner’s cheque.

Verstappen wins Canadian GP as Red Bull claim 100th victory

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen equalled Ayrton Senna’s career total of 41 victories with a dominant win at the Canadian Grand Prix. The Dutchman’s sixth triumph in eight races this season gave him a 69-point lead in the championship and was the 100th victory for his Red Bull team. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso passed Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes on track to win a battle for second place.

Folwer and Clark share lead heading into final round – US Open

Rory McIlroy heads into Sunday’s final round of the US Open one shot behind joint leaders Rickie Fowler and Wyndham Clark at the Los Angeles Country Club. The Northern Irishman, who won the last of his four major titles in 2014, shot a one-under 69 to move to nine under. Fowler, who is chasing his first major, bogeyed the last to shoot a 70 and join fellow American Clark on 10 under.
