Liverpool managerial candidate Ruben Amorim says he “can’t make any guarantees” that he will still be Sporting Lisbon boss next season. The 39-year-old is a leading contender to replace the outgoing Jurgen Klopp in the summer. Jonas Vingegaard, Primoz Roglic and Remco Evenepoel were all involved in a horrific crash at Itzulia Basque Country on Thursday, with the reigning Tour de France champion “stable and conscious” after suffering a broken collarbone and several broken ribs as the race was neutralised following the shocking incident. Evenepoel fractured his collarbone and scapula, while Jay Vine was badly hurt.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted a late penalty as Everton gained a vital point in their battle to avoid relegation with a draw at Europe-chasing Newcastle. Alexander Isak gave the hosts a 15th-minute lead when he collected Harvey Barnes’ ball over the visiting defence, cut inside Jarrad Branthwaite and calmly slotted past Jordan Pickford. Formula 1 and Moto GP will have the same owner as Liberty Media announced a takeover of the motorcycling series in a deal worth £3 billion. Liberty, which bought F1 in 2017, is taking over Moto GP owner Dorna Sports, which it will buy from Bridgepoint and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. The media company confirmed Moto GP will be added to the same tracking stock as F1.
