Norris wins in Mexico to take Championship lead

McLaren’s Lando Norris took the championship lead for the first time since April with a dominant victory in the Mexico City Grand Prix. Norris was serenely out of reach of some incidents behind him as he kept the lead from pole position and controlled the race from there. Norris leads the championship by just one point from team-mate Oscar Piastri, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who finished third just behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, is 36 points off the lead.

Bellingham bags winner as Real triumph in El Clásico

Real Madrid edged an impassioned El Clasico at the Bernabeu to beat Barcelona 2-1 and go five points clear at the top of La Liga. Kylian Mbappe fired Los Blancos ahead before Fermin Lopez brought Barca level however a Jude Bellingham header proved decisive before the interval. McLaren’s Lando Norris gave his title hopes a boost by taking pole position at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Title rivals Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri will start the race fifth and seventh, as both Ferrari drivers and Mercedes’ George Russell muscled in on the championship fight. Norris beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by 0.262 seconds, while Lewis Hamilton secured his best grand prix qualifying position of the season in third.

Leeds add to West Ham’s early season woes

Leeds claimed their first Premier League win at home since the opening day of the season to pile on the problems for dismal West Ham. The result lifted Daniel Farke’s men up to 13th in the table, while the visitors remain second bottom after a seventh loss in nine league games. Brenden Aaronson set the hosts on their way inside three minutes and by the time Joe Rodon headed a second with just over 14 minutes on the clock, it was the earliest Leeds had held a two-goal advantage in the English top flight since April 2004.

Oscar Piastri insists he would rather be in his shoes despite Formula 1 title rival Max Verstappen being the one in title-winning form. The Aussie is 40 points clear of Verstappen and 14 ahead of McLaren team-mate Lando Norris heading into this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix.
