Tadej Pogacar recovered from a tyre puncture and crash to claim a dramatic victory on Stage 2 of the Giro d’Italia on Sunday afternoon. Pogacar was the favourite heading into the race but was pipped on Saturday with Jhonatan Narvaez winning the opening stage. However, the UAE Team Emirates rider stormed back in stunning style to win Stage 2 and claim the pink jersey.

Verstappen holds off Ferrari duo to take pole in Miami

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen beat Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to pole position at the Miami Grand Prix. Verstappen was 0.141 seconds quicker than Leclerc as the two men finished first and second in qualifying, just as they have in all competitive sessions so far in Miami. Sergio Perez will start from P4 in the second Red Bull while McLaren’s Lando Norris will line up fifth for the race ahead of team-mate Oscar Piastri.

Barcelona collapse at Girona to hand Real Madrid La Liga title

Real Madrid were crowned champions of La Liga for the 36th time after FC Barcelona suffered a 4-2 defeat by Girona. The Catalans took an early lead through Andres Christensen but were soon pegged back by Artem Dovbyk. Barca regained the lead but Cristian Portu’s brace from the bench turned the tie on its head ultimately ending the title race.

Ecuador’s Jhonatan Narvaez outsprinted Giro d’Italia favourite Tadej Pogacar to win the opening stage of the first Grand Tour of the year. Ineos Grenadiers rider Narvaez charged to the finish line in Turin to push Slovenian Pogacar into third, with Germany’s Max Schachmann taking second. UAE Team Emirates rider Pogacar attacked on the final climb, dropping the majority of his rivals for overall victory as he seeks to win the Giro-Tour double.

Verstappen canters to Sprint victory in Miami

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took a controlled victory ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the sprint race at the Miami Grand Prix. Verstappen was in control after fending off an attack from Leclerc at the first corner. Sergio Perez dropped behind RB’s Daniel Ricciardo at the first corner but recovered to take third. Ricciardo drove an exceptional race to hold off Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari and Oscar Piastri’s McLaren to take fourth.
