Heimir Hallgrimsson’s reign as Ireland manager started with a defeat as England enjoyed a well-earned 2-0 victory in the UEFA Nations League encounter at Aviva Stadium. Ollie Bearman to replace suspended Magnussen for Azerbaijan GP

Oliver Bearman will replace the suspended Kevin Magnussen at Haas for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Magnussen has been banned from the race in Baku on 13-15 September after exceeding Formula 1’s penalty-point limit. Bearman, who has already been signed as a Haas driver for 2025, will be taking part in his second grand prix.

Five tennis players sanctioned over match-fixing

Five more tennis players linked to a match-fixing syndicate in Belgium have been banned from the sport, the International Tennis Integrity Agency said Thursday. The charges stem from matches in 2017 and 2018 and “relate to contriving the outcome of matches, facilitating betting, accepting money in exchange for not giving best efforts, and failure to report corrupt approaches,” the ITIA said in a statement.

McIlroy and Scheffler to take on Koepka and DeChambeau

Rory McIlroy has confirmed that he will partner world No 1 Scottie Scheffler in a made-for-TV match against LIV Golf stars Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka later this year. The match between two of the biggest names on the PGA Tour and two of the highest-profile LIV Golf players will be held in Las Vegas in mid-December, although the exact date, venue and format have yet to be announced.
