Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard set for at least three weeks out

Arsenal are still waiting to discover the full extent of Martin Ødegaard’s ankle injury but their captain is expected to be unavailable for at least three weeks. This means he will miss Sunday’s north London derby and the trip to Manchester City on 22 September. Ødegaard left the pitch in tears after a challenge from Christoph Baumgartner during Norway’s win over Austria on Monday and was pictured on crutches on Tuesday when he returned to Arsenal for more tests.

Greek curse continues as Ireland slump to defeat

An improved performance, but ultimately another losing one as Ireland were beaten 2-0 by Greece in tonight’s UEFA Nations League encounter at the Aviva Stadium. Ireland appeared to be in control following an assured first-half display, but ultimately Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side were undone by goals at either end of the second half.

Adrian Newey to join Aston Martin from March 2025

Aston Martin has pulled off a massive coup by securing the services of Formula 1’s most highly-rated designer, Adrian Newey. The 65-year-old confirmed in May he had agreed to leave Red Bull at the beginning of next year. Ferrari was understood to be among the teams vying for his services.
However Newey has turned down the opportunity to form a ‘super-team’ at the Scuderia with seven-times world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Caoimhin Kelleher wants Liverpool exit to ‘be a number one’

Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher has said that his desire is to leave Liverpool and prove himself as the number one goalkeeper at another club. Kelleher has served as back-up to Alisson Becker in the Liverpool goal for a number of seasons and has generally impressed with his performances when called upon, winning two League Cups in the process.
